The South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine hospital auxiliary hosted the Hospital Auxiliaries Association of Ontario (HAAO) Central Region spring conference, Wednesday, at the Kincardine Legion.
Committee chairperson Judy Lackner and her team did an excellent job of organizing this event. The hall and tables were decorated with a Scottish/Beach theme by Donna Mowry, Dotty McClelland and Dale Chipman, using various items collected from the Kincardine auxiliary members.
Refreshments were available during registration, and at 10 a.m., Leslie Ray of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band piped in the executive to the head table to officially begin the conference.
Pauline Stanley, Central Region chairperson, gave the opening remarks and presided over the conference. Kincardine auxiliary president Carol Collins welcomed everyone. There were 84 in attendance, representing 12 of the 14 auxiliaries in the Central Region with 20 members from Kincardine.
The morning was spent in round-table discussions, followed by a delicious ham and scalloped potato lunch with wonderful homemade pies for dessert, supplied by the Legion members.
After lunch, greetings were brought by Kincardine mayor Anne Eadie, South Bruce Grey Health Centre president and chief executive officer Paul Rosebush, and HAAO education director Helen Gulka. There were 15 provincial life members recognized, including Pat Capeling of Kincardine.
The afternoon guest speaker was Kincardine pharmacist Marla Chapleau, talking about medical marijuana. Her presentation was very interesting and informative. Ron Chapleau, her husband who is also a pharmacist, assisted during the question-and-answer period.
A Share the Wealth and Chairperson’s draw were made, as well as draws for jars of apple jelly provided by Kincardine auxiliary member Anne Nicolson.
Thanks to all the Kincardine auxiliary members for their hard work in making this conference such a success!
