Christopher Pennington (above centre, and at right) has received the Kidney Foundation's excellence in fund-raising award.

The 12-year-old son of Cathy Pennington of Kincardine and Mark Pennington of Brussels was honoured at the Ontario Branch 2017 volunteer celebration and annual general meeting, Saturday, May 6, in King City.

Ontario Branch president Greg Robbins said the foundation is fortunate to have the support and strength of thousands of volunteers and staff across the country whose efforts are making a difference every day in the lives of kidney patients and their families.

In a letter, Robbins notified Christopher that he was this year’s excellence in fund-raising award recipient.

"This award is presented in recognition of an individual, chapter or team that has developed and implemented a fund-raising program or project that attains or exceeds its revenue goal," stated Robbins. "A priority will be placed on outcomes that demonstrate an effective net return to support the mission of the Kidney Foundation. Innovative programs which expand awareness and engage new supporters or effectively steward and upgrade the contributions of current donors, will also be a consideration in the selection of the recipient of this award."

Christopher and a guest were invited to the volunteer awards dinner at the Kingbridge Conference Centre in King City, for this wonderful evening of celebration.

Christopher is already gearing up for the 2017 Goderich Kidney Walk, set for Sunday, Sept. 10.
