Kinlough Produce Market now open on Bruce Road 1, north of Lucknow
The Kinlough Produce Market is now open, on Bruce County Road 1, north of Lucknow.

Owned and operated by Jason Weber, the store offers a variety of seasonal produce, hanging baskets, planters, bedding plants, preserves, maple syrup, and honey, as well as home-baking (Friday and Saturday only).

While Weber has spearheaded the renovation of the building on the one-acre property, opening it as a produce market has been a community effort.

About 50 years ago, the Kinlough General Store was located here, so locals are pleased to see the building renovated and re-opened as a new business.

Produce available now, includes asparagus, spinach, radishes, rhubarb, lettuce, and greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers.

In June, strawberries are in season, along with peas, beans, green onions and baby potatoes. By July, there should be garlic, beets, carrots, Swiss chard, and onions. And by August and September, there should be cabbage and cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, field tomatoes, raspberries, peppers, sweet corn, cantaloupe, watermelon, kale, apples, potatoes and squash.

As the season winds down in October, there should be fall mums, Indian corn, gourds, pumpkins, squash, rutabaga and sweet potatoes available.

The produce market is open Monday to Wednesday, from 1-6 p.m.; and Thursday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., from mid-May to the end of October. Payment is by cash or cheque only.
