Grand opening June 9 for new boardwalk system at Greenock Swamp
The board of directors of the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA), also known as Saugeen Conservation, is pleased to announce the grand opening of a new boardwalk system at the Greenock Swamp, southern Ontario’s single largest forested wetland.

“The Greenock Swamp is a Class 1 wetland and we’ve had many requests from individuals wishing to visit this incredible habitat," said SVCA chairman Luke Charbonneau. "Staff has constructed a unique floating boardwalk system over a very significant bog habitat within Schmidt Lake. The floating system allows visitors access to this incredible wetland while ensuring that the habitat is still protected.”

The grand opening will be held Friday, June 9, from 1-3 p.m. Information and displays will be available, explaining the natural significance of the swamp as well as its colouful history. Snacks and beverages will be provided and staff will be happy to provide tours.

Directional signs to guide visitors to the location, will begin at the Chepstow Inn in Chepstow, Municipality of Brockton. Please wear appropriate footwear.

“I encourage people to stop by, chat with staff, and take a walk on the wild side!” said Charbonneau.
