ATV driver facing multiple charges
(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) - A 29-year-old Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh man is facing several driving-related charges after police attempted to pull him over this past weekend in Auburn.
Shortly before 8 p.m., June 10, a Huron County OPP officer observed an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) travelling northbound on Hardwood Line. The officer noted both the driver and passenger were not wearing helmets so a traffic stop was initiated.
The passenger immediately got off the machine, but the driver took off from the officer. He fled into a farmer's field; however, within a few minutes officers found the man nearby on foot.
Upon speaking with the male driver, the investigating officer noted he had consumed some alcohol. As a result, a roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a Fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. He later provided two samples of his breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, the driver, Bradley WARWICK, 29, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, has been charged with Drive Motor With Over 80-Milligrams of Alcohol, Drive While Disqualified, Fail to Stop When Signaled, and Fail to Wear Proper Helmet. He has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for Aug. 14, at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver's licence suspension.
*THESE CHARGES HAVE YET TO BE PROVEN IN COURT*
