Kincardine photographer is guest artist at Victoria Park Gallery for June
Kincardine photographer Jason Finner is the guest artist at the Victoria Park Gallery in downtown Kincardine for the month of June.
A former member of the gallery, Finner is pleased to have his work hanging in the guest gallery.
"My photography is all based on landscapes," he says. "I enjoy the time spent alone, watching the colours and the quality of the light change as the sun rises or sets. We are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Even 'National Geographic' noted that the Bruce County sunsets are one of the best places."
The artwork Finner has on display for June includes some of his favourite work taken locally and during a trip to Prince Edward Island in 2016.
"I've always found that a photograph is worth framing if it evokes the same emotion afterward as the actual experience," he says.
Also at the gallery for the months of June and July, local artists and gallery members have created artwork on the "Canada 150" theme.
One of those artists is Jane Rigby of Kincardine. A painter and print-maker, she is famous for her ceramic creations under the "Grubby Paws" line of pet lifestyle products for her giftware business. She has since expanded into a wide range of hand-built ceramic objects using a wide variety of special glazes.
Recently, she developed a line of Maple Leaf Art. Starting with real maple leaves, she produces bowls, platters, pendants, fridge magnets and other ceramic items.
Rigby works from her studio/gallery, The Back Room on Princes, at 737 Princes Street, Kincardine.
The Victoria Park Gallery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, check the Facebook page at
