Purple Grove news
The June meeting of the Purple Grove Women's Institute was held at the Purple Grove Community Centre.
Hostess Cheryl Bridge had the centre looking inviting. President Deanna Scott opened the meeting with an interesting poem on life. Fran Farrell read the Scripture.
After the minutes were read, we discussed the invitation for the Bervie Women’s Institute celebration and the Kinloss-Karishea Women's Institute special anniversary celebration. The Ripley-Huron Community School Grade 8 graduation is June 27. We will again present the Music Award to a deserving student.
Janet Rhody and Marilyn Reid reported on the District Annual. They also reported on the scholarship fund. Sam Finnie will again cater to the Ripley and District Lions Club this month. Our next year planning meeting will be June 22 at Marilyn Reid’s home.
Convener Mary Anne Kukoly introduced our guest speaker, Leanne Farrell, who spoke on ‘Enabling Gardening.’ She showed us various stretching exercises that will help keep us limber and enjoying our time spent working in the garden. She also brought a variety of implements that will make gardening much more profitable. Another tip she recommended was raised beds for our fruit and vegetables.
Mary Anne thanked Leanne for an informative and helpful talk, and presented her with a gift from the members.
Everyone appreciated the lunch provided by Janet Rhody and Brenda deLeeuw.
