Rotary Music Park set to open Saturday, July 1
The Kincardine Rotary Club is looking forward to the official opening of its music park, Saturday, July 1, from Noon to 6 p.m.
Located at the north end of Rotary Park on Huron Terrace, across from Kincardine Harbour, the music park features a half-dozen instruments that are meant for outside use. They are a harmonized percussion ensemble and include Pagoda Bells, Chimes, a Swirl, a Manta Ray, and Yantze Cymbals.
Chuck Edey, president of the Rotary Club, said the $80,000 project was done this year in honour of Rotary International's 100th anniversary, and Canada's 150th birthday. Rotarian John Hill came up with the idea and the club endorsed it.
Funding has come through financial donations, including $3,000 from Bruce Power, and money from Bruce Telecom and Leader Resources; $20,000 from the Rotary TV Bingo funds, and in-kind assistance, such as John Sweeney's donation of his labour to create the new cement sidewalks to the music park
Edey said the club continues to accept donations for the project.
