OPP urge people to celebrate Canada Day 150 responsibly
(LONDON, ON) - The OPP is expecting a significant amount of traffic on major and secondary roadways, as well as waterways, this holiday long weekend. Officers across West Region will be proactive, helping to assure public safety and security.
The OPP reminds all citizens of the need to celebrate responsibly. A number of the incidents we investigate are often precipitated by the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs. In some instances, incidents investigated by the OPP end in unfortunate consequence for those involved.
The OPP is hopeful that Canada's 150th Birthday celebrations will be fond memories instead of regrettable circumstances.
"I wish all the citizens of Ontario, in particular those policed by West Region OPP, a very Happy Canada Day," says
superintendent C. Yeandle-Slater (right). "It is our hope that this weekend is a wonderful experience for all."
