Pine River United Church celebrates Canadian music day
The Pine River United Church celebrated a Canadian music day, Sunday, June 25.
The congregation sang songs and hymns by various Canadians, and had guest musicians and singers. Providing the music were Glenn Boyd on fiddle, Lynn Lowry on banjo, Laurie Dalton on piano. Dianne Rotteau on organ and Patt Lowry on piano.
Guest soloists were Larry Irwin, Maggie Durnin and Carson Rutledge, and Laurie Dalton. Members of the Middelkamp family sang a Dutch tune, and Marian Glen spoke about the family coming over to Canada by boat with (at that time) eight children.
The young people were invited to the front to colour on a big piece of bristol board, stating the things they love about Canada. There was also a trivia game - one for kids, one for adults.
After the service, Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb helped auction off decorated boxed lunches in the basement.
