Purple Grove news
A great big THANK YOU to Lucy and Allan Miller and family for hosting their final Pig Roast at Purple Grove, Saturday night. They have been putting on the Pig Roast since 1968 with their musical friends and neighbours, and every year just seems to get better! This year, they decided that donations would go to the Purple Grove Well Fund, and presented $1,100 to some Purple Grovers at the event. It was a wonderful afternoon and evening of great music and visiting and, of course, delicious food!

It was a beautiful weekend in the Grove, especially for visiting and celebrating good times and birthdays! Belated birthday wishes to Eleeta Aitken who turned 99 recently, and Happy 50th Wedding Anniversary to Don and Dianne MacArthur!

Congratulations to Chris and Tanya (Coulthard) Mathewson of London on the safe arrival of their son, Jaxon Arthur, born July 14. Tanya is the daughter of the late LeRoy Coulthard and Shirley (Bridge) Coulthard. Proud grandmother is Shirley and great-grandmother is Viola Bridge.

Congratulations to the Ripley Firemen who hosted their annual breakfast Saturday morning. From all accounts, the attendance and the breakfast were very good!

While in British Columbia recently, Mary Anne Kukoly visited with family and friends in Kitimat, Prince George and Terrace.  Dick McCosh was also able to visit with Mary Anne and her family.  While travelling back to Kitimat, Mary Anne saw a small forest fire not too far from the highway. Certainly nothing like the infernos happening in the middle of B.C. One of Mary Anne’s friends called from Prince George to say that they had 6,000 evacuees there. And who knows how long they will be staying there? Time for some serious prayer, we think.

Mary Anne also travelled to London and visited with Julianne House and Geraint, and Meighan and Everleigh Hunter.

Ruth and Janice McCosh of Goderich visited with Mary Anne, Saturday. Mary Anne’s place was on the way home from a visit to the Miller Mall (Holyrood General Store) and its famous ice cream cones.
