Arran-Elderslie mayor running for Bruce County warden
Paul Eagleson (above) would like another opportunity to hold the position of warden of Bruce County.
The mayor of Arran-Elderslie Township announced he is running for the job, at the county council meeting, Thursday, July 6, in Ripley.
Eagleson has served on township council for a total of 21 years. During his initial 14-year stint, he was warden in 1995.
He returned to council seven years ago and said being warden is a great opportunity.
"The county has done a lot of restructuring this year," he said, "and in 2018, we'll just be ending a year-long 150th anniversary celebration. The focus will be on the Southern Bruce natural gas project, among other issues."
Huron-Kinloss mayor Mitch Twolan is the current warden. The election of the 2018 warden takes place in early December.
