Lots of donations, presentations, winning, and sweet music in downtown Kincardine
There were numerous donations, cheque presentations, and winning going on, as well as the sweet sound of music in downtown Kincardine, in the past few weeks.
Kim Westbrook, race director of the Kincardine Women's Triathlon, made four cheque presentations to the following organizations, from the event proceeds:
- Community Living of Kincardine and District, the main charity for the triathlon - $5,000
- Bruce Shrine Club, which assists with the bike portion of the race - $1,000
- Bluewater Rescue and the Mysis rescue boat, which maintains water safety during the race - $1,000
- Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey - $1,000
Meanwhile, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) presented a cheque for $1,000 to Community Living as the sponsor of the All Abilities Beachside Run coming up in September, and the Kincardine Lions Club presented $200 to Community Living in support of the recent golf tournament.
Bill Molnar of Kincardine completed his $5,000 shopping spree at Canadian Tire in Kincardine, as winner of the Fish Kincardine Derby.
Some sweet sounds can be heard in downtown Kincardine, beside the library, Thursday nights, during Music in the Street.
And the senior ladies' baseball team, "Scared Hitless," presented $800 to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, proceeds from three great yard sales held this summer, thanks to the generous donations from team members and friends. The funds will go toward a new X-ray machine, the foundation’s latest project.
