Water leak at Bruce Power has no impact on staff, public, environment, says Peevers
A water leak at Bruce Power, early Wednesday (Aug. 2), was contained and had no impact on the staff, the public or the environment.
That's the word from John Peevers, communications and media relations manager.
He said the problem occurred in Unit 3 which is in a planned shutdown.
"Crews encountered an issue with a pump as they aligned the unit for an inspection program," he said. "As a result, a quantity of water leaked in the area of the pump and was contained within a diked area immediately adjacent to the pump, as designed. This area is in place to collect leakage if it occurs."
Peevers said crews have cleaned up the water and there were no impacts to staff, the public or the environment.
