Bervie Women's Institute visits Bruce Botanical Food Gardens in Ripley
The Bervie Women's Institute met briefly at the hall, Thursday, Aug. 3, with 12 members in attendance. Gardening was the theme.

During business discussion, it was determined that hosts at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton, were to be Sylvia Hasbury and Islay Eby, Aug. 4, and Ellen Waye and Mildred Griffith, Aug. 11. A $100 donation will be made to the Red Cross for the British Columbia fire victims. Final plans were made regarding pie-making and workers at the Bruce County Plowing Match near Walkerton, Sept. 1.

The ladies then travelled to the Bruce Botanical Food Gardens in Ripley where executive director Lynne Taylor gave them an interesting tour of the facility. Such a variety of different types of edible plants! It is set up as an educational experience for those who attend, young and old. Volunteers are needed to assist with weeding, etc., at the gardens. Taylor accepted a monetary donation from the Bervie W. I.

The next meeting will be at the hall, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. New members are always welcome.
