Kincardine hospital foundation gearing up for third annual Radiothon Sept. 15
The board and staff of the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation are gearing up for the third annual Radiothon fund-raiser, slated for Friday, Sept. 15, at Trillium Court Seniors' Community, Kincardine.
For the next two years, all proceeds raised from events will be applied to the purchase of a Siemens Ysio Max Digital X-ray Machine. The cost is $427,000 plus renovation costs of $350,000, said Diane Baldwin, foundation co-ordinator.
On average, 10,000 X-rays are performed every year at the Kincardine site, part of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre. The current X-ray machine is more than 20 years old, surpassing its life expectancy, and the space requires extensive renovations to meet current standards and regulations.
New diagnostic technology will capture images with higher quality and accuracy, and allow for faster exam times and reduced radiation for patients. The digital images produced are available to view within seconds. Having this state-of-the-art piece of equipment will help the hospital continue to provide the best level of care to the residents of Kincardine and the surrounding areas.
If you have an item to donate to the Kincardine foundation for the Radiothon, contact Baldwin at 519-396-3331, Ext. 4342.
The foundation has received a number of presentations over the past few weeks.
A substantial $600,000 donation came from the estate of Wesley Giesz.
David Leigh of David Leigh Financial, treasurer of the Masonic Lodge, graciously donated $400, the proceeds from his treasurer position to the Radiothon.
The Orange Lodge donates to the Trillium Home Board and funds were then donated to the hospital foundation from the Trillium Home Board. To date, the Orange Lodge has donated $3,000 to the foundation.
The Tuesday Dart League donated $600. A donation of $500 was made last year from the same league.
The Kincardine foundation appreciates ALL donations, to be put toward the X-ray machine. Thank you for your support!
