Saugeen Shores man faces criminal charges in crash south of Amberley
(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH - GODERICH, ON) - A 55-year-old Saugeen Shores man is facing criminal charges, a crash on Bluewater Veterans Highway (Highway 21) near Zion Road on the weekend.

At 10:36 a.m., Aug. 5, Huron County OPP officers were called to the scene where a Ford F-150 had sideswiped the complainant's vehicle and failed to remain at the crash scene.

The suspect vehicle took off and continued southbound toward Goderich. The complainant continued to follow the suspect truck into Goderich until a Huron OPP officer intercepted and stopped the suspect vehicle.

Officers later learned the complainant's vehicle was sideswiped by the Ford pick-up as the suspect attempted to complete a pass.

While speaking with the driver of the pick-up, the investigating officer noted the driver had been consuming some alcohol. As a result, a roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was promptly transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. The driver subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

55-year-old Ronald McCANN of Saugeen Shores has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle - Over-80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Drive While Disqualified and Fail to Remain. He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 21 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver's licence suspension and his vehicle was towed.

*THESE CHARGES HAVE YET TO BE PROVEN IN COURT*
