Walsh Street reconstruction project nears completion
The reconstruction work on Walsh Street, Kincardine, is nearly completed, just in time for the school buses to travel it in a week-and-a-half.
Lavis Construction Co. Limited was awarded the contract in the spring and began the work in late June, with substantial completion expected by Aug. 25.
The job included road excavation and complete resurfacing, curb and sidewalk repairs, and storm drain improvements. The tender price was $421,869.60 plus engineering, much lower than the estimate of $670,000 including engineering.
This was due to the fact that the scope of the project was reduced to address only problem areas. The project had originally involved excavation and replacing curbs and sidewalks.
