McMann's Garage donates almost $3,500 to Kincardine hospital foundation
The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation received a financial shot in the arm after Larry McMann of McMann's Garage in Underwood matched the donations from a barbecue, Saturday, Aug. 12, and presented a cheque for $3,430 to the foundation.
Originally, McMann planned to hold a re-opening after the addition renovations last year but when nothing was ready last fall, he decided to wait until this year and combine it as an open house, customer appreciation, and to celebrate the company's 70th year in business. McMann's grandfather started the business in 1947, and his son, Jason, will be the fifth generation to operate the garage.
About 250 people attended the event, enjoying beef-on-a-bun, along with cake and cupcakes. There were gift bags and a good selection of draw prizes as well.
McMann was overwhelmed with the support he received from his customers, suppliers and friends. They far exceeded expectations, donating $1,715 which he matched for a total of $3,430.
