Kincardine man paints Canada-150 flag on garage door
George MacDonald (above) is a proud Canadian.
The resident of North Cedar Lane in the Kinhuron subdivision, west of Bruce County Road 23 (B-line) in the Municipality of Kincardine, painted a Canada-150 flag on the garage door at his home.
A retired Bruce Power worker and professional sign-painter, MacDonald designed the flag and painted it on the garage door in honour of the country's sesquicentennial (150th) anniversary year. He also did it because the last Canadian flag he put up was stolen.
MacDonald's stylized Canadian flag painting is beautifully done and was painted using one-shot sign colours. It depicts the flag and flag pole across the top of the garage door.
The hardest part, he said, was drawing the maple leaf in the centre and balancing it.
He plans to leave the flag on the garage door, and next year, he'll paint a "one" over the zero for Canada's 151st anniversary.
