Funding available for participants in consultation on OPG's DGR project
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) is making federal funding available to assist registered participants in the upcoming consultation of Ontario Power Generation (OPG)'s proposed Deep Geologic Repository (DGR) for low- and intermediate-level nuclear waste at the Bruce Nuclear site.

This will be the final phase of the federal Environmental Assessment (EA) process for this project.

Following the submission of the EA report by the Joint Review Panel (expected in May), the agency will be consulting registered participants on the potential conditions for the EA, states a press release, issued March 12 by Steve Chapman, director of national programs for the CEAA. These conditions would become legally-binding on the proponent if the federal environment minister ultimately issues a decision statement, indicating that the proposed project may proceed.

The funding will assist registered participants to review and comment on the federal government's potential conditions. A maximum of $1,800 is available for registered participants who made a written or an oral presentation to the panel.

Funding applications received by April 13, 2015, will be considered. Recipients and the amount of funding allocated will be made public at a later date.

To apply for funding, contact Ms. Marie-Josee Boudreau at the participant funding program by E-mail at PFP.PAFP@ceaa-acee.gc.ca or call 1-866-582-1884.
