Bruce County celebrates long-time commitment to Early Years programs
“Bruce County has been blazing the trail to ensure that our youngest residents, along with their parents and caregivers, continue to have quality services."
That's the word from warden Mitch Twolan as county council reflected on its commitment made to retain the high level of Early Years' services, during the county council meeting Thursday in Walkerton.
"We are proud of the county's decision to invest in the Early Years programs over the past number of years, said Twolan.
The county's pledge resulted in a program that offered services beyond provincial contributions, and which will continue to impact future services.
Over the past five years, Bruce County has contributed over $1-million to support the delivery of these programs. Early childhood educators deliver a range of programs and services that are responsive and supportive of the important role that parents have in their lives of their children.
County chief administrative officer Kelley Coulter said the county levels the playing field for child development and family well-being. "Providing a professional and compassionate environment for children to develop in, allows parents to gain confidence in their formative role.”
