COPA for Kids Aviation Day takes flight Sept. 23 at Kincardine Airport
If you are interested in becoming a Junior Aviator, and are between the ages of eight and 17, you are invited to the COPA for Kids Aviation Day, Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Kincardine Municipal Airport. The rain date for this event is Sunday, Sept. 24.
COPA (Canadian Owners and Pilots Association) Flight 172, based in Kincardine, is overseeing the day's activities, including a short "ground school" tour of a static display aircraft, explanation of the operation of an aircraft, and the duties of the pilot.
Each participant will have the opportunity to fly in a small aircraft for a flight of about 20 minutes, and each will receive a logbook as a record of the flight.
All flight time is donated by local pilots who fly regularly from Kincardine or from local airports, including Goderich, Hanover and Port Elgin. The event will be supported by airport staff and local volunteers.
The COPA for Kids Aviation Day provides a motivational aviation experience, initiating young people in the science of flight.

COPA is a Canadian non-profit association, representing about 18,000 pilots, aircraft owners and aviation enthusiasts across the provinces and territories of Canada.
The COPA for Kids Aviation Day is an opportunity to have youth learn the technology and science of flight and be shown the advantages of the study and hard work required to achieve a pilot's licence. Being in the cockpit of a working aircraft in flight will help to de-mystify the art and science of aviation. Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives.
