PURPLE GROVE WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The September meeting of the Purple Grove Women's Institute was held at the community centre with Donna Swan hostessing.
President Deanna Scott opened the meeting by welcoming all members and guests. Deanna read a fun set of comments of children with which we could all relate. The roll call: "A new plant or bulb I want to plant," was answered by everyone in attendance. Some great ideas and questions were put forth. The Scripture was read by Mary Anne Kukoly.
Convener Janet Nixon introduced our speaker, Rachel Butorajac who talked about winterizing and/or planning a new flower bed. We were all pleased to learn from her expertise. She left us some fall crocus bulbs (they bloomed so nicely since the meeting).
Janet thanked Rachel and presented her with a token of our appreciation. Janet also had a fun contest that presented lots of chuckles.
In the business part of the meeting, we talked about the display for the Ripley Fall Fair. Brenda deLeeuw and Christine Roberts are the co-ordinators for the display. The booth was also discussed, with Deanna and Marilyn Reid planning the work shifts in the morning. Everyone was encouraged to bring pies to donate.
Also discussed, was the Grey Bruce Area Convention, Oct. 5; and the Bruce County Rally, Oct. 26. Lots more visiting was done over the lunch provided by Janet Rhody and Wilma Sutton.
The next meeting originally scheduled for Oct. 4, has been rescheduled to Oct. 11, at the community centre.
