Two Bervie Women's Institute members receive 40-year service pins
Sylvia Hasbury, president of the Bervie Women's Institute, had the pleasure of presenting 40-year service pins to Janice Hewitt and Betty Jean White, at the regular meeting, Wednesday morning, Oct. 4, at the Bervie W.I. Hall.
The meeting's theme was Culture and Muslim religion. After the usual openings, the Roll Call, "What you know about the Muslim religion," was answered.
Convener Diane Wilson introduced Cindy Faddah of Kincardine who gave an informative talk on the Muslim religion and its beliefs. Wilson thanked Faddah and presented her with a gift.
Mildred Griffith gave the Sunshine Report. The Bervie W.I. will donate $100 to the Huron Shores Hospice fund. A cheque and thank you were received from the Bruce County Plowing Match.
A ROSE Program, "Mission to Nicaragua," is being held by Reid's Corner's W.I., Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. - several plan to attend.
Five members attended the Grey Bruce Area Women's Institute convention, held Oct. 5 at Chepstow. "Change Her World" founders Carol Hamilton and Linda Willis spoke on their mission work in Malawi and the many projects they are supporting with their fund-raising. They are now supporting a number of girls financially, who not only attend high school but are going on to university.
The Bruce County W.I. Rally is Oct. 26 in Chesley, with several planning to attend.
The next Bervie W.I. meeting will be at the hall Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. Thank you to hostess Janice Hewitt for providing the coffee and morning treats.
