MAN ARRESTED FOR MISCHIEF INCIDENTS
(CHESLEY, ON) – Dec. 17, at 6:28 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received reports of property damage on 1st Avenue South and 2nd Avenue Southwest in Chesley.
Officers arrived to find that a grey Chevrolet Malibu and a beige Chevrolet Silverado had windows smashed.
A suspect for the damage was identified and taken into custody without incident. Thirty-two-year-old Timothy JACOBS of Brockton has been charged with theft under $5,000, two counts of mischief under $5,000 and trespassing. He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing Dec. 18.

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – In light of some recent property crime activity in the detachment area, the South Bruce OPP is re-sending this quiz to help owners protect their property.
Are there clear views of all doors and windows (no tall bushes or fences)?
Do you ensure newspapers and flyers are collected, driveway is cleared and grass is cut when you are away for a period of time?
Do you leave lights on timers, both inside and out, when you’re away?
Do all of your exterior doors have a deadbolt lock?
Are the strike plates on your exterior doors secured with four screws?
Do all the windows with a single locking device have a secondary security feature?
Do you store your valuables in a safety deposit box or isolated area of your home?
Are your valuables marked with your personal identification number?
Do you store car keys in a location that is out of sight within your home?
Do you know your neighbours on all three sides and across the street?
If you have seven to 10 “yes” answers, your property is reasonably secure. Those with four to six “yes” answers are encouraged to make some changes. If you have zero to three “yes” answers, security improvements are recommended.
Remember that burglary is a crime of opportunity that you can help to control. Suspicious vehicles and suspicious people should be reported immediately so that police officers can investigate them.
