Share a cup of tea with the OPP
(HURON COUNTY, ON) - It's quite possible you may have heard about the "Coffee with a Cop" sessions taking place around the area, but have you heard about "Tea with the OPP?" Nobody likes a copy-cat and since there are just as many tea drinkers in Canada (or close to it), the Huron County OPP has come up with its own version - "Tea with the OPP."
Okay, so what's with all this talk about hot beverages? Quite simply, it's about community engagement and connecting with people in a relaxed and inviting manner.
Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 9 a.m., Huron County OPP officers, including detachment commander Jason Younan and staff of Victim Services Huron, will be at the Exeter McDonald's, located at
261 Main Street North, kicking off their first ever "Tea with the OPP" social.
"We are hopeful we get some interest in this event, as we believe it is a great way to break down some barriers and connect with local citizens," says Wendy Burrow, acting staff-sergeant, Huron OPP. "Our goal is to provide a relaxed environment where people can meet some of our officers and have a conversation with us. Whether you have questions, suggestions, criticisms, compliments, or would just like to say 'Hello,' we believe this is a great way to strengthen our relationships within our local communities."
Whether you are into tea, coffee, hot chocolate or none of the above, it really doesn't matter. However, if you are in the Exeter area Wednesday morning, consider stopping by the Exeter McDonald's. It will be a pleasure to meet with members of the community.
Plans are underway to expand "Tea with the OPP" into other Huron County communities; details will be announced in the New Year.
