Port Elgin team wins Kincardine FLL qualifier
The H2OP FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team of Port Elgin has advanced to the provincial finals in Waterloo in January, after winning the top awards at the qualifying regional held Dec. 3 at Kincardine District Secondary School.

The team won the Robot Performance award and the Champion award, following a day of competition against six other teams from Kincardine, Sauble, and Collingwood.

Conducted by members of the Kinetic Knights (FRC Team 781), this year's competition was a "Hydro Dynamics" challenge, and teams were required to present a project, discuss core values, and create a robot that would compete against the other teams.

During the closing ceremony, other awards were presented including:

  • Volunteer award - James Adams of the Kinetic Knights
  • Rookie All-Star award - Saugeen Storm of Sauble
  • Core Values award - The Metallic Goats of Collingwood
  • Project award - Ladies first of Kincardine

The Kincardine regional was funded through FIRST Canada and the Kinetic Knights Robotics.
