Motz, Johnstone acclaimed chairman and vice-chairperson of Bluewater school board
Ron Motz (right) has been acclaimed chairman of the Bluewater District School Board for a fourth term, while
Jan Johnstone (below) has been acclaimed vice-chairperson for a third term, during annual elections held at the initial board meeting, Tuesday night.
Motz is the trustee for the Municipality of West Grey/Town of Hanover, and Johnstone is the trustee for the Municipality of Kincardine/Township of Huron-Kinloss.
Trustees are now entering the fourth and final year of the 2014-18 term.
Over the past year, their hard work has helped pave the way for a more sustainable path forward for the school board through the responsible stewardship of resources, securing a budget surplus for the first time in a long while, building community partnerships, and ensuring the board has a voice in provincial decisions affecting rural education.
Additionally, trustees have continued to advocate for expanded learning in Ontario’s school curriculum related to the history and culture of Canada’s indigenous people.
Congratulations to Motz and Johnstone as they continue to serve the board in their leadership roles.
