Sleepers Bed Gallery in Kincardine has donated $1,250.00 in quality bedding and accessories to outfit the beds for the resident room and family room in the one-bed residential hospice suite at Tiverton Park Manor.
Owner Heather Shewfelt approached board members to ask how she could help with the hospice project. She generously donated a pillow and cover, duvet and duvet cover for the resident hospital bed and a headboard, mattress cover, pillows and covers, duvet and duvet cover for the family bed.

“We are very proud to be able to offer these quality items to help make the resident and family stay in hospice as comfortable as possible," said Shewfelt. "On a personal note, my mother was in hospice and we couldn’t be more grateful for the love, support and care for her and our family.”
“This donation from Sleepers Bed Gallery, frees up budget money to provide direct care to our future residents, and creates that home-like setting so important for the comfort of those dying and their families while staying in hospice," said Cottrill. "We can’t thank Heather (Shewfelt) and her staff enough for this generous support to help bring residential hospice care to our community."
On Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28, Nicol Insurance Inc. of Kincardine, donated $10,000 to Huron Shores Hospice, making it the Family Support sponsor to kick off Phase 2 of the fund-raising efforts to bring a second residential hospice bed to south Bruce County.

“When we heard that help was required to support such a great initiative, we felt it was extremely important we step forward to support our community," said chief executive officer Tim Nicol. "Being the Family Support sponsor is not only a great honour but also fits with our desire to give back to families that support us and allow us to be in a position to give back.
"There is no more important time to support family than when they are going through hard times, and we hope that this makes life a little easier in a very difficult time. Our company philosophy is to be a great corporate citizen and recognize that we would not exist if not for those in our communities who put their trust in us every day. This donation is from Nicol Insurance, all its employees and also from those who choose us as their insurance provider. I certainly hope that everyone involved is as proud as I am to be a part of supporting such a worthwhile cause.”
“We are very pleased to be moving into our Phase 2 fund-raising efforts and to have Nicol Insurance make our first donation, showing such generous support,” said Cottrill.
And the staff and members of No Drama Fitness of Kincardine did their part for Huron Shores Hospice, by rowing hundreds of thousands of metres in their ‘Row for Hospice’ fund-raising event in December, raising more than $1,100 for the project.
