Kincardine area rings in New Year with snowstorm
The first day of 2018 blew in with a major snowstorm that caused considerable grief for residents and motorists in the Kincardine area.

The heavy snowfall from New Year's Eve combined with high wind New Year's Day, resulted in blowing and drifting snow throughout downtown Kincardine and beyond.

Residents were clearing driveways with snowblowers and shovels, but within a half-hour, the snow had filled in the driveways again.

Meanwhile, it was a nightmare for drivers as Highway 21 was closed from Amberley to Goderich first thing in the morning. Two hours later, Highway 21 from Amberley to Grand Bend was shut. And by the afternoon, Highway 21 was closed all the way from Port Elgin to Grand Bend. That roadway remains closed.

The Kincardine area continues under a snow squall warning but the weather is expected to improve by Tuesday morning with high wind but little snow, and warmer temperatures over the next couple of days.
