Thanks to generous Kincardine community for supporting Christmas Hamper program
To the Editor:
RE: Christmas Hamper program 2017

On behalf of the Kincardine Community Services Christmas Hamper program, a big thank you to all the people who make the whole thing possible. I could not possibly name every person or organization as it takes the whole community pulling together to make Christmas just a little brighter for some folks who otherwise would not be able to have such a bountiful Christmas.

This year, we packed 182 hampers and distributed them to 92 families, 39 couples and 51 individuals.

The Kincardine District Secondary School Christmas Knights did an excellent job once again of collecting food and toys, Dec. 9. It is heartwarming to see the students so enthusiastic on a chilly Saturday morning, having their parents drive them door-to-door to gather the goodies. We cannot thank them enough because, without them, we would not have the items to fill the hampers.

A special thank you to my “band of merry elves,” the committee members, who committed a whole week to the project at a very busy time of the year. And to all the willing volunteers who did a shift either toy-packing or food-packing.

You can be assured that the community’s generous spirit made a Merry Christmas for many folks in Kincardine.

Until next year,
Heather Finnie
