Kincardine Guides try their hand at engineering
The Kincardine Guides worked in groups to complete an engineering experiment, Tuesday night at Kincardine Baptist Church.
The activity is part of the spring session which is centred on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
One group was to build a chair out of small sticks and ju-jubes candy, while the other was to build a bridge out of long sticks and ju-jubes candy.
Each group worked diligently in the time allotted, but the bridge did not make it to the testing area.
The chair was solid and withstood the weight of a small book first, and then a larger book. However, once both books were placed on it, the chair collapsed.
The Guides continue to explore and experiment through various activities. This session runs through to May, with regular meetings Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Kincardine Baptist Church.
