Suspended driver tries to pull the ole' switcheroo
(GODERICH, ON) - A 43-year-old Huron East woman is facing charges after a failed attempt at the ole' switcheroo while driving with a suspended licence, in Goderich.
Jan. 30, at about 12:30 a.m., a Huron County OPP officer spotted a Dodge pick-up travelling westbound on Britannia Road without a rear licence plate. The patrol officer followed the vehicle and upon activating the cruiser's emergency lights at the intersection of Britannia Road and Waterloo Street, the suspect driver turned northbound onto Waterloo and began to pull over.
As the truck was coming to a stop, the officer watched as the driver and passenger climbed across each other and switched seats.
Upon speaking with the driver, who was now seated in the passenger seat, the investigating officer was able to confirm her identity. Some additional checks were made and they revealed the driver was wanted for failing to attend court. Additionally, it was learned the driver held a suspended driver's licence.
Katherine UPSHALL, 43, of Huron East has been charged with two counts of Driving While Under Suspension. She was held in custody for a bail hearing scheduled for Jan. 30 at the Huron County Courthouse in Goderich.
*THESE CHARGES HAVE YET TO BE PROVEN IN COURT*
