Bulldogs face elimination against Walkerton Hawks in playoffs
The Fairmount Security Kincardine Bulldogs of the PJHL Pollock Division, face elimination Sunday, after falling 3-2 in their sem-final series against the Walkerton Hawks.

Kincardine came out growling at the start of the series, downing Walkerton, 5-2, Feb. 16 in Walkerton; and 4-1, Feb. 18 in Kincardine.

Goal-scorers in Game 1 were Jordan Caskenette (2), Mike Fiegehen, Damien Demarco-Sutton, and Brady Richards, with assists to Hunter Robins-Gibbons, Grant Stevens, Logan Swanton, Keegan Angel and Robert White.

Scoring in Game 2, were Caskenette, Robins-Gibbons (2), Fiegehen and Brett Burrows, with assists to Payton Dunlop, Logan Freiburger, Swanton (2), Fiegehen, and Joshua Traynor.

The Bulldogs then lost their bite, as the Hawks won the next three games.

Feb. 19, in Walkerton, the Hawks edged the 'Dogs, 3-2.

Kincardine opened the scoring early in the second period, on a powerplay marker by Dunlop, from Freiburger and Jesse Carnahan. Walkerton then fired in two goals, before Traynor tied it up late in the frame, from Angel and Trevor Donaldson.

Late in the third, Walkerton managed the game-winning goal, and Kincardine tried to tie it up, but ran out of time.

Back in Kincardine, Feb. 21, Walkerton muzzled the 'Dogs, 7-3.

Kincardine opened the scoring early in the first, on a powerplay goal by Robins-Gibbons from Swanton and Freiburger.

Midway in the period, it was 2-0 for the 'Dogs after Tyler Sutton scored, unassisted.

Walkerton scored seconds before the end of the first to make it a 2-1 game, and then tied the the game at 2-2 seconds into the middle frame.

Midway in the second, Derrick Bernath put the 'Dogs in the lead again, scoring a shorthanded goal from Richards.

However, the rest of the game belonged to Walkerton as the Hawks scored two more in the second and three in the third to take the convincing 7-3 win.

Friday night in Walkerton, the Hawks again edged the 'Dogs, 5-4, giving Walkerton a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Walkerton opened the scoring early in the first before Kincardine hammered in three quick goals to take 3 -1 lead. Scoring, were Dunlop from Fiegehen; Angel from Burrows; and Caskenette from Freiburger and Fiegehen.

Walkerton soared back with three goals in the second, to take the lead, and then added another late in the third, to make it a 5-3 game.

Kincardine pulled its goalie, and Burrows scored from Fiegehen and Caskenette, to come within one, but time ran out and the Hawks took the 5-4 win.

The Bulldogs are under the gun as they must win the next game to remain in the playoffs. Game 6 runs tomorrow evening (Feb. 25) at 4:55 p.m., at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.

If the 'Dogs win, Game 7 runs Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 7:50 p.m., in Walkerton.
