Two Kincardine speakers advance to Legion district public speaking contest
Almost 30 youth took part in the Legion Zone C-1 public speaking competition, held Saturday in the Kincardine Legion hall.

Youth education chairman Robert Forrest conducted the event, with 10 speakers in the primary division, nine in junior, and eight in intermediate. The primary and junior speakers competed in the morning, with the intermediate speakers in the afternoon.

Joining Forrest in presenting the awards, was zone commander Keith Vander Hoek of Ripley.

Primary results:
 
  • 1st – Jaasir Ahmad of Goderich, “Kindness Makes the World Beautiful”
  • 2nd – Noah Martin of Wingham, “Dangers of Grocery Shopping”
  • 3rd – Benjamin Harter of Hensall, “My Family Vacation”

  • Morgan Rintoul of Lucknow, “Remote Control Airplane Flying With My Papa”
  • Oscar Weerasinghe of Kincardine, “Justin Bieber” (speech was delivered in French)

  • Carali Hugill of Blyth, “My Teacher”
  • Elana Moore of Ripley, “Storytelling”

Junior results:
