KDSS graduate Lindsay Glover has her work on display in Victoria Park Gallery

Kincardine District Secondary School graduate Lindsay Glover, 18, is the guest artist at the Victoria Park Gallery for the month of March.

Now a graphic design student at Fanshawe College in London, Lindsay is excited to have her work on display. “I'm honoured to have my artwork exhibited here. I'd rather have it on display than sitting in a portfolio.”

She began her course at Fanshawe in January and said it's an awesome program, providing a bit of everything.

“The program runs through to August,” she said. “The first term is a general overview, and the second term we're on computers and doing graphic design work.”

The daughter of Terry and Lorraine Glover of Kincardine, Lindsay graduated from KDSS in June, 2017. In September, she received the Victoria Park Gallery scholarship. So, the gallery executive is pleased to have her as the guest artist for March.

Her display includes paintings, drawings and computer work. Most of it was done during her design class at KDSS. Her most recent style is "scraping painting," which involves putting acrylic paint on a surface and then scraping it with a chisel.

“Throughout my life, I have been told art is my passion and every person who commented on my artwork knew I would end up in the field,” said Lindsay. “Last year, I created a six-foot-tall-by-10-foot-wide mural for KDSS which now hangs in the rear entrance.”

Last fall, she attended the Ontario Skills Competition, placing fifth in the graphic design presentation category.

“That's when I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the graphic design industry,” she said. “I like web design and I like designing logos.”
