Kincardine Legion launches next Catch the Ace game
It was an exciting time at the Kincardine Legion, Wednesday afternoon, as Catch the Ace organizers presented more than $20,000 to the winner, as well as funds to the 2018 Kincardine Reunion committee, and kicked off the next game.
Legion charity chairman Dave Dechene, Legion president Jim McDonald and Catch the Ace co-ordinator Laura Haight were on hand to present $20,851 to Rodney Benbow of Kincardine who won the inaugural game, Feb. 28.
Benbow said he has faithfully been buying Catch the Ace tickets since September and was thrilled to win the jackpot.
“My wife, Sandra, and I plan to do some travelling,” he said, “and we want to fix up our house.”
The Legion also presented $11,087.96 to the reunion committee, as its share of the lottery receipts.
The next Catch the Ace game begins this week, with tickets available Friday at Jean's Family Restaurant, Sleepers Bed Gallery, Edward Fuels, Lakemart Esso, Kwik Way in Tiverton, and the Legion Bar.
This time, the Legion and the Tiverton Lions Club have joined forces to operate the game, with Huron Shores Hospice sharing in the proceeds. Tickets are $5 each on the progressive raffle lottery, with the jackpot growing each week until the Ace of Spades is drawn. First draw is March 14, at 4 p.m., at the Kincardine Legion.
In addition, the Legion and Trivia Night quiz-master Laura Haight were pleased to present a cheque for $2,000 to Huron Shores Hospice, proceeds from the special Medieval Trivia Night, held last month.
