Huron-Bruce MPP preparing for final sitting ahead of provincial election
The next four weeks will be busy for Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson (above) as she manages her responsibilities at Queen's Park and looks to shift into election mode when the writs drops later in May.

Thompson was acclaimed for the Huron-Bruce nomination for the Ontario Progressive Conservative (PC) party in January, 2017.

“While I am honoured to have been asked to take on greater leadership roles at both the provincial and national levels over the past six-and-a-half years,” she said, “my number-one priority is always connecting to; advocating for; and attracting interest in Huron-Bruce, on behalf of constituents,  businesses, and municipalities, alike."

During the final four weeks in the Ontario Legislature, “there's still work to get done,” she said.

Thompson will be tabling for first-reading legislation proposing a Great Lakes Awareness Day. She will also be welcoming Huron-Bruce schools visiting Queen's Park, meeting with stakeholders, and participating in a variety of debates, including the “Plan for Care and Opportunity Act,” better known as the budget bill.

"All of these responsibilities are over and above my normal schedule of meetings and events both at the Legislature and at home in the riding," she said.

"What keeps me going is continuing to hear from people across our riding that life continues to get harder under the Liberals,” said Thompson. “Our hydro rates have skyrocketed, we’re having new fees imposed on us through Cap-and-Trade, local rural health care continues to erode and small businesses continue to worry about the negative impact of new, costly regulations.

“People in Huron-Bruce and across Ontario have had enough of the Liberals' 15 years of mismanagement and waste.”
