EPCOR awarded rights for Southern Bruce natural gas project
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has released its decision, awarding EPCOR Utilities Inc. the right to be the natural gas distributor for Kincardine, Huron-Kinloss and Arran-Elderslie – the Southern Bruce natural gas project.
In its decision, rendered Thursday (April 12), the OEB said that since EPCOR is promising a lower total 10-year revenue requirement as compared to that proposed by Union Gas, and given that this criterion was among the most important for the OEB, EPCOR is declared the winner of the competition.
The next step is for EPCOR to file another application with the OEB, known as the “Leave to Construct.”
“We congratulate EPCOR,” said Kincardine mayor Anne Eadie, “and trust the company will file a Leave to Construct application as soon as possible.”
