Huron Wind turbine damaged, road closed

Bruce County Road 20, from the B-line (Bruce County Road 23) west to the bottom of the hill (Tie Road), remained closed Saturday morning, after one of the Huron Wind turbines adjacent to the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre was damaged during high wind.

The damage occurred to the tip of one of the turbine blades which remains intact, said John Peevers, manager of communications and media relations at Bruce Power. He added that traffic on the county road was temporarily diverted as a precaution.
“All five Huron Wind turbines are off-line and will remain off-line until the cause of the damage is understood,” said Peevers. “Technicians were on location Friday afternoon to ensure the damaged turbine is in a safe state.
“They will be back to do some further work Saturday morning and we expect that section of Bruce Road 20 to then be re-opened.”
