Local team raises $18,000 for Grey-Bruce Gutsy Walk
Team “It's All Gone to Shitz” of Ripley and Kincardine has raised $18,142 for the Grey-Bruce Gutsy Walk for Crohn's and Colitis, making it the No. 9 fund-raising group in all of Canada.
The event was held at the Walkerton District Community School track, Sunday, June 3, and raised a total of $35,000 for the cause.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson congratulated the participants, organizers and volunteers for their hard work and dedication in holding the walk every year, raising awareness and the funds to help those who suffer from these diseases.
Event chairperson Melissa Clubbe thanked all those who support the event every year, and honourary chairperson Lauren Maus added her thanks.
All funds raised at the Gutsy Walk will count toward the "Crohn’s and Colitis – Make it stop. For life." campaign to raise $100-million by 2020. The money helps transform the lives of Canadians with these diseases by fuelling research, patient programs, awareness and advocacy.
