Kincardine Reunion Shirt Tail Parade explained
To the Editor:
RE: “Parade of thousands marches down Broadway to Kincardine Reunion Shirt Tail Dance”
Originally, the Shirt Tail Parade did not start until 11 p.m. People would come dressed in their PJs, gather at Victoria Park, and later Station Beach, and parade up to Queen Street, across to Broadway and down to Connaught Park.
This is the first time there has been no open alcohol in the parade and the first time Connaught Park has been licensed.
Traditionally, it's been BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze) for the parade and park. Traditionally, the whole weekend has been open alcohol everywhere as long as you were not being stupid. And the local constabulary would just stand back and not bother people unless they started a fight, etc.

I knew there would be some kind of Shirt Tail Parade this year. What were they (organizers) thinking by trying to buck tradition?
The open liquor (although there were never any real problems), I can see that, but the parade is something else.
People come from far and wide to enjoy and celebrate the Old Boys every 10 years and the Shirt Tail Parade and dance cap it off, the fireworks Monday night close it out.
Stop trying to be a wet blanket - it's only every 10 years.

Regarding the Shirt Tail Parade, somewhere along the way, someone had to act stupid and wreck the fun for everyone else.
That's the reason for the changes. But it sounds as if people had fun and still managed to keep it under control..
I'm happy everything went off with no problems and am sure the police are happy too.
Marilyn Bull, I'd say, YES, that was a parade!
