The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation received more than $30,000 in donations Friday morning.
The first was $20,000 from the Power Workers Union, presented by Howard Phorson and Ken Bellan, on behalf of the Power Workers Union staff who work at Bruce Power.
The money goes toward the cardio respiratory department which was facing some wait-time challenges for certain diagnostic tests due to equipment needs.
The foundation ordered the following equipment:
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor - worn by patients for 24 hours; it measures their blood pressure every 30 minutes as they complete their daily activities; we currently have only one of these monitors (about $4,000).
Four Holter Monitors - worn by patients for 24 or 48 hours; it is a recording of their heart tracing for that entire time; we ordered four monitors (about $14,000).
The Power Workers Union has donated $75,000, to date, including this donation, plus yearly support through the Bruce Power golf tournament.
The second presentation was $10,000 from the Lucknow and District Kinsmen Club – Music in the Fields, presented by Joe Carter, Morton Jacobson and Ian Hackett.
This money went toward the Telemetry - Cardiac Monitoring System ($212,000). The Telemetry System is a critical tool in providing care for patients who require constant and close monitoring.
The current Telemetry Monitoring System is not working properly and is desperately in need of being replaced.
The Lucknow and District Kinsmen Club has donated $19,000, to date, including this donation.
The third presentation was a $250 donation from the Northern Light Masonic Lodge, No. 93, presented by David Leigh.
This money will go toward the Christmas Tree Ornament Campaign.
To date, the Northern Light Lodge has donated $500, including this donation.
