Muriel Isabelle (née Quinn) Newton of Kincardine, a Second World War veteran, died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, Saturday, April 25, 2015, in her 94th year.
Beloved wife of the late Robert Dunlop (1965) and the late Gordon Newton (1998).
Dear mother of Shirley (Michael) Davies of Dundas and Brenda (Ed) Scott of Erin. Predeceased by her daughter, Margaret Logan (2001).
Cherished grandmother of Sean (Jennifer) Logan, Ryan (Jennifer) Logan, Andrea Davies (Simon Carroll), Jennifer Atkinson (Shawn Keffer) and Kyle (Amy) Atkinson, and great-grandmother of Jacob, Alex, Quinn, Declan, Amaya, Rhys, Zachary, Zoe, Wyatt, Leighton, Summer and Paige.
Loved sister of Margaret (Wes) Smith of Ripley and Edythe Cayle of Mansfield.
Predeceased by her brothers, Harold, Lloyd, Trevor and Earl Quinn; and her sisters, Evelyn Murdoch and Eloise Payne.
Also survived by her sisters-in-law, Beatrice Quinn and Della Quinn, both of Kincardine; and her brothers-in-law, Peter Payne of Erin, Glen (Bev) Dunlop of Kincardine, George Dunlop of Nova Scotia and Ron (Bonnie) Newton of Dundalk. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Muriel served with the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRENS) from 1943-46. For that service to her country, she received the Order of Kincardine in 2011.
Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes Street, Kincardine, Friday, May 1, from 2-4 p.m. And 7-9 p.m., where the funeral will be held Saturday, May 2, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Don Harry officiating.
Interment, Kincardine Cemetery.
