Reader offers another option for overnight parking in Kincardine's downtown

RE: “Reader offers solution to overnight parking problem”
I have another option to possibly solve this issue - allow overnight parking in the municipal parking lots.
During the winter months, all vehicles must be removed by 7 a.m. to allow snow removal. Make sure that Queen Street and the surrounding streets are plowed prior to 7 a.m. (this can be done as the municipal plow most days is on our street at 4:30-5 a.m.) so the tenants, etc., whose cars have to removed by 7 a.m., can park their cars on the plowed streets.
It might be an inconvenience for some but it is an option for them for parking in Kincardine's downtown core.
Public parking downtown is an issue any time of the year now with the main street having so many offices with several employees. Monday Market Days during the summer are especially terrible for parking.
Maybe the municipality should have looked into obtaining some of the properties located in the downtown area for additional public parking to accommodate the increased number of vehicles because of the many new offices located on the main street.
If necessary, charge the companies with offices for parking, and issue parking permits or designate a certain public parking lot for office workers and issue passes that can be put in their windshield. Those without passes should be towed.
A list of the licence plate numbers for each employee should be given to the municipality to monitor the parking and prevent office workers from parking in lots not designated. Yes, this would mean actually hiring someone to do the work but we need a specific bylaw officer anyway, not someone who has to service two jobs.
The public parking downtown should be for retail - individuals coming and going to shop.
