(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Two Huron County residents are facing multiple criminal charges after police executed a search warrant and recovered stolen property from an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh residence last week.
April 23, members of the Huron County OPP, including members of the Huron OPP Crime Unit, Huron OPP Property Crimes Unit, OPP West Region Support Team and the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a single dwelling residence located on St. Augustine Line. The criminal investigation and execution of the search warrant were in response to recent incidents of break, enter and theft from residences in Huron County.
Officers located and arrested two residents on the property. A search of the property and outbuildings resulted in police recovering several stolen items including a wood stove, vehicle batteries, a Polaris ATV, a stamp collection and a chainsaw. The total value of the recovered stolen property is estimated at $10,000.
Also, during the course of the search, police located an air soft pistol and a crossbow. The male subject was not allowed to be in possession of these items due to a court-ordered prohibition against him.
As a result of the execution of the search warrant, 45-year-old Michael CHAPMAN of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is charged with the following offences:
He remains in custody with a video court appearance scheduled for May 1, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
40-year-old Katherine UPSHALL of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is charged with the following offences:
She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 11, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
