KDSS to host OFSAA boys hockey championships March 19-22

Kincardine District Secondary School is the proud host of this year’s OFSAA “A/AA” boys hockey championships.

As the host school, KDSS has an automatic entry, and will be playing March 19, at Noon, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, says principal Mark Ozorio.

This will also double as the official opening ceremony for the provincial high school hockey championship tournament.

“It is a great honour for our town and school to host such a high-profile event, and to share with our whole community all of the excellent work to which our youth are dedicated,” says Ozorio. “I am hoping everyone will come to the Davidson Centre, March 19, for this historic occasion.”

The tournament will see 500 players on the 16 best secondary school hockey teams from across the province, descend on Kincardine in order to crown an Ontario champion. Hockey games will be played in Kincardine, Ripley, Tiverton and Lucknow over a four-day period.

This is just the second time KDSS has hosted an OFSAA event. Kincardine hosted the CWOSSA track and field championships in 2016 and 2017, but the only provincial championship ever to take place in town was OFSAA girls curling in 1997.
