More than 100 trucks, and a couple of cars, gathered Saturday, May 2, for the inaugural Clint Parker Memorial Ride. The 18-year-old was killed in a snowmobile accident Feb. 15, near MacGregor Point Provincial Park.
The ride toured from the Parker farm on Concession 9, Kincardine, to North Bruce, across to the crash site where a memorial sits, and back to the farm for a barbecue.
Organizer Sarah Woods of 519 Country, said, thanks to the generosity of so many people, especially Sobeys Kincardine which donated all the food, the event brought in $2,066. Funds were raised through the barbecue, 50-50 tickets and the sale of 519 Country "swag."
The money will go toward an award and bursary to be presented for the next four years at Kincardine District Secondary School commencement. It will go to a graduating student from the technological skills (shop class). Funds will also go toward the Canadian Tire JumpStart program for the less fortunate who cannot afford to play sports.
While 519 Country hosted the barbecue, 519 Trucks hosted the ride.
Contrary to what is stated in the video, the Clint Parker Memorial Ride saw about 115 trucks and a couple of cars participate, Saturday, May 2
