Strathroy man wins Fish Kincardine Derby with 23.34-pound trout

Charles Bintcliffe of Strathroy has won the 34^th annual Canadian Tire Fish Kincardine Derby, which ended at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, with the awards held at 2 p.m., at the Grey Matter Beer Company in downtown Kincardine.

Bintcliffe landed a 23.34-pound trout, to win the grand prize of a $5,000 Kincardine Canadian Tire shopping spree.

Top trout was won by Cody Irwin, with his 21.98-pound trout; he received a $1,000 shopping spree from Lake Huron Rod and Gun.

And Don Cullerier of Lucknow had the top salmon, with a 15.2-pound catch, to win the $1,000 shopping spree from Lake Huron Rod and Gun.

Shane Robinson won the aggregate prize, with a total of 68.52 pounds; he received a $500 shopping spree from Lake Huron Rod and Gun.

Ladies' Day winner was Diane Wylds Molnar of Kincardine, with a 14.18-pound trout.

Seniors' Day winner was Greg Loro, with a 19.44-pound trout.

Louis Cuillerier of Lucknow won the Kids' Day, with a 7.29-pound salmon; in second, was Rowan Watson with a 6.94-pound trout; and in third, was Travis Bimm with a 1.66-pound trout.

The Fish Kincardine Derby committee has donated $1,000 to the Lake Huron Fishing Club for its brown trout hatchery program.

The Kincardine Canadian Tire has been operated by John Satosek for 17 years, and has proudly sponsored the Fish Kincardine Derby for 17 years. This year, Satosek is expanding the business on Highway 21, which will be completed in 2020.

Lake Huron Rod and Gun has been in operation since 1976, and has sponsored the derby since its inception in 1986.
